Motorcycle Accidents in Utah

Motorcyclists face a significantly higher risk of injury or death in collisions compared to occupants of larger vehicles. Utah sees a substantial number of motorcycle crashes each year, with many resulting in serious or fatal injuries. Even when riders wear protective gear, they remain vulnerable to life-threatening impacts.
Understanding the dangers of motorcycle crashes can help raise awareness and improve safety. Here are some of the most common causes of motorcycle accidents:
- Left-Turn Collisions – Many crashes occur when a vehicle turns left at an intersection and fails to yield to an oncoming motorcycle, leading to a severe impact.
- Lane-Change Accidents – Drivers who fail to check their blind spots or use turn signals can collide with motorcyclists while switching lanes.
- Speeding – Excessive speed reduces reaction time for both motorcyclists and drivers, increasing the risk of severe crashes.
- Distracted Driving – Motorcycles are smaller and harder to see than cars, making them especially vulnerable to drivers who are texting, eating, or otherwise distracted.
- Road Hazards – Uneven pavement, potholes, and debris pose a greater threat to motorcyclists than to drivers in passenger vehicles.
