St. George, UT (April 17, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash occurred in the SunRiver community of St. George on Wednesday morning, April 16, leaving one person injured and both vehicles with visible damage. The crash took place shortly after 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of Grayson Drive and Arrowhead Canyon Drive.
According to authorities, the incident was triggered by a failed U-turn attempt. A black Cadillac reportedly tried to reverse direction on Grayson Drive and entered the intersection to double back. During the maneuver, the vehicle pulled into the path of a northbound Dodge Ram traveling on Arrowhead Canyon Drive. The pickup struck the Cadillac on the driver’s side.
A passenger in the Cadillac complained of neck pain following the crash and was transported to St. George Regional Hospital for further medical evaluation. The extent of the injuries has not been confirmed. Police continue to investigate the incident, and both vehicles sustained moderate damage.
We hope the injured passenger makes a full and quick recovery.
Car Accidents in Utah

With over 61,000 vehicle crashes reported in Utah in 2023 alone, the state continues to see frequent incidents involving injuries. More than 17,000 of those accidents resulted in someone getting hurt. Improper turns and misjudged driving maneuvers, such as U-turns, are common causes of collisions, especially in residential communities.
Let’s take a closer look at some of the risks and issues surrounding unsafe turning:
- Limited Visibility: Drivers making U-turns or left turns may have limited sightlines due to oncoming traffic, parked cars, or road curvature. These limitations often result in underestimating speed or distance.
- Impaired Judgment: Attempting a turn without enough time or space can be dangerous, particularly in intersections where multiple lanes of traffic converge.
- Driver Distraction: Even brief distractions while turning, such as adjusting a GPS or checking traffic, can result in serious consequences.
- Unexpected Driver Behavior: U-turns often catch other drivers off guard, especially in places where they aren’t common. This can lead to confusion or delayed reactions.
- Legal Restrictions: Some intersections prohibit U-turns altogether, and ignoring these signs can lead to fines or increased liability after a crash.
