Car Accidents in Utah

American Fork, UT – Auto Wreck with Injuries Blocks I-15

Each year, Utah roads see thousands of crashes, resulting in injuries and fatalities. The Utah Highway Safety Office reports that excessive speed, distracted driving, and failure to yield are among the top contributors to these incidents. Interstate highways, such as I-15, are often the sites of high-speed collisions that can lead to severe injuries.

Being involved in a car accident can result in various challenges. Here are some of the most common causes of crashes in Utah:

  • Distracted Driving – Texting, adjusting in-car systems, or other distractions take a driver’s attention off the road, increasing the risk of accidents.
  • Speeding – Driving above the posted speed limits or too fast for conditions reduces reaction time and increases crash severity.
  • Impaired Driving – Alcohol or drug use slows reaction times and impairs judgment, leading to dangerous situations.
  • Drowsy Driving – Fatigue can be just as dangerous as impaired driving, causing slowed reaction times and reduced awareness.
  • Following Too Closely – Tailgating can lead to rear-end collisions, especially in heavy traffic or at high speeds.
