American Fork, UT (June 28, 2025) – A busy morning in American Fork turned chaotic on June 27 when a Ford F-150 pickup truck slammed into the Anvil Barber Co. at a local strip mall, sending at least one person to the hospital and leaving multiple others with injuries. The crash happened just after 10 a.m., causing significant damage to the barber shop and nearby businesses.

Witnesses described the terrifying moment when the truck struck the building, scattering debris and dust. Darcy Walters, who works next door, recounted hearing a deafening noise before seeing smoke and rubble fill the area. She found the barbershop’s owner injured, unable to use his left leg and bleeding heavily from cuts on his hand. Another person was seen with a head wound and needed assistance until paramedics arrived.

Emergency responders treated at least one barbershop employee for serious injuries before transporting them to a local hospital. Two occupants of the pickup truck were treated for minor injuries at the scene. Authorities also responded to a gas leak caused by the impact; crews from Enbridge quickly secured the leak, while Rocky Mountain Power addressed power concerns in the affected strip mall.

Investigators are still piecing together what led to this crash. Police continue to examine evidence and speak with witnesses to determine the events that caused the truck to veer off the road and into the building.

We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.

Car Accidents in Utah

According to the Utah Department of Public Safety, thousands of motor vehicle accidents occur every year in Utah, leaving many families facing unexpected hardships. Here in Utah, the risk of being involved in an accident is increased by factors like high traffic volume, distracted driving, and changing weather conditions. By understanding the local risks, residents can be better prepared to stay safe on the roads.

Below are some common injuries people may face after a car accident and why they require immediate medical attention:

  • Head and Brain Injuries: Head trauma, including concussions or traumatic brain injuries, can occur even in low-speed crashes. Symptoms might not show immediately, making early diagnosis critical. Victims may experience headaches, confusion, memory loss, or changes in mood that impact daily life.
  • Spinal Cord Injuries: Accidents can cause damage to the spinal cord, leading to temporary or permanent paralysis. Even if full mobility is retained, victims often require extensive physical therapy and lifestyle adjustments to manage ongoing pain and mobility issues.
  • Broken Bones: Fractures are among the most common injuries after a crash. Broken arms, legs, ribs, or hips can result in long recovery times and may limit a person’s ability to work or care for their family while they heal.
  • Soft Tissue Injuries: Whiplash and other soft tissue injuries can cause chronic pain and restricted movement. Though they may seem minor at first, they can become long-term medical issues without proper treatment.
  • Emotional Trauma: Being in a car accident can leave lasting emotional scars. Victims may struggle with anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder, which can affect their relationships and daily activities for years to come.
