Draper, UT (July 28, 2025) – A motorcycle accident in Draper on July 26 led to serious property damage and sent a young rider to the hospital. The crash occurred around 4:46 p.m. near the intersection of State Street and 11950 South, where a collision involving a motorcycle driven by a 20-year-old man and a second vehicle took place.
Following the impact, the motorcycle veered off the roadway and slammed through the front window of Black Bear Diner. Witnesses said the crash startled diners, but fortunately, no one inside the restaurant was injured. Draper Police Officer Ricks confirmed that the portion of the dining area hit by the motorcycle was unoccupied at the time.
Paramedics arrived shortly after the incident and transported the injured rider to a nearby hospital. His condition has not yet been released. The diner was closed for the remainder of Saturday evening but is expected to reopen on Sunday. No damage to nearby businesses was reported. Police are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.
We hope the young man injured in this crash makes a full recovery.
Car Accidents in Utah

Motor vehicle accidents are a common hazard in Utah, especially in areas with high traffic volume. According to the Utah Department of Public Safety, thousands of collisions occur each year, with many resulting in injury or hospitalization. Contributing factors often include speeding, distracted driving, and failure to yield. Here in Utah, drivers and passengers alike face risks every time they hit the road—underscoring the importance of caution and awareness while driving.
Understanding what can follow a serious motorcycle crash is vital. Here’s a look at the types of injuries motorcyclists often face:
- Head Injuries: Helmets reduce risk, but concussions and traumatic brain injuries are still common due to forceful impact or ejection from the bike.
- Road Rash: This painful injury results from skin scraping against the pavement. It can range from mild to severe and often requires extensive wound care.
- Broken Bones: The force from a collision frequently causes fractures, particularly to the legs, arms, and ribs.
- Spinal Cord Injuries: These are among the most life-altering, often leading to partial or full paralysis. Recovery involves long-term therapy and major life adjustments.
- Internal Injuries: The impact from a crash can cause internal bleeding or damage to organs, which might not be immediately apparent.
- Psychological Trauma: Beyond physical injuries, motorcycle crashes often leave victims with lasting mental stress or post-traumatic stress disorder.
