Hurricane, UT (April 17, 2025) – Emergency responders rushed to the scene of a serious crash early Wednesday morning, April 16, near the intersection of State Street and 2260 West in Hurricane. The accident occurred around 7:00 a.m. and involved multiple vehicles, one of which overturned on impact.
Upon arrival, crews found one vehicle upright and another on its side. Firefighters had to extricate a victim from the overturned vehicle before that individual was transported to St. George Regional Hospital. A second vehicle held three people, including a child. All three occupants were also taken to the hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
Units from Engineer 42, Heavy Rescue 41, Medic 41, 42, and 43, along with Battalion 41 and Battalion 44, responded to the scene. The Hurricane City Police Department, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and the Utah Department of Transportation Incident Management Team also assisted.
We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.
Car Accidents in Utah

Utah continues to see thousands of motor vehicle collisions every year, with more than 61,000 accidents reported in 2023 alone. Of those, over 17,000 resulted in injuries. Multi-vehicle crashes, especially those involving children, often lead to complex medical needs and long-term recovery concerns.
Car accidents involving children can be particularly traumatic. Here are several important considerations when kids are involved in a crash:
- Hidden Injuries: Children may not be able to fully describe their symptoms after an accident. Internal injuries, concussions, or soft tissue damage may go unnoticed unless diagnosed through medical imaging and observation.
- Emotional Trauma: A crash can leave lasting emotional effects on children, including anxiety, sleep issues, or fear of car travel. These issues often require counseling or ongoing mental health support.
- Pediatric-Specific Care: Treating injuries in children requires specialists who understand developmental stages and age-appropriate treatment plans. This can include tailored physical therapy or pain management approaches.
- Long-Term Monitoring: Even minor injuries may need follow-up care as a child grows. Injuries to bones or joints, for example, can impact future development if not properly addressed early on.
- Legal Considerations for Minors: Compensation claims for children involve special rules, including court approval for settlements. Funds are often placed in trusts or accounts until the child reaches adulthood.
