Car Accidents in Utah
In Utah, more than 60,000 motor vehicle accidents are reported each year, with a significant portion resulting in injury. Cities like Lehi have seen increased traffic as the population grows, and this brings a greater risk of collisions—especially near campuses, schools, and busy intersections.
Parking lot and campus-area accidents are more common than many realize. Here’s why these areas can be surprisingly dangerous:
- Limited Visibility: Vehicles parked close together make it difficult for drivers to see oncoming cars or pedestrians, particularly when backing out of a space.
- Foot Traffic: Pedestrians in campus or commercial areas may cross unexpectedly or between vehicles, increasing the risk of being struck.
- Tight Spaces: Narrow drive lanes and sharp turns can lead to sideswipe incidents or fender benders, especially with larger vehicles.
- Distracted Drivers: People navigating parking areas may be focused on finding a spot or using their phones, reducing awareness of their surroundings.
- Two-Way Confusion: Some parking areas have unclear signage or road markings, leading drivers to mistakenly treat them as one-way or misjudge right-of-way.
If you were injured in a crash in or near a campus zone, speaking with a Lehi car accident attorney can help you recover compensation for medical bills, lost income, and other damages. An attorney can also help determine liability in areas where signage or surveillance footage may be involved.
