Lehi, UT (August 31, 2025) – On August 30, a two-vehicle accident occurred just before 1 p.m. along southbound Interstate 15 near milepost 284, by the State Route 92 exit in Lehi. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene in response to the crash, which blocked several lanes of traffic and caused major backups stretching toward Draper.
One person sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to Sgt. Andy Battenfield with Utah Highway Patrol, the collision led to the temporary closure of multiple lanes, including the high-occupancy vehicle lane, which remained closed after the initial cleanup. By late afternoon, all general lanes had reopened, though Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advised drivers to expect lingering congestion in the area.
Traffic delays were reported for several hours, and law enforcement is currently investigating the cause of the crash. No further updates have been provided regarding the conditions of the involved vehicles or additional passengers.
We hope the individual injured in this crash makes a full and fast recovery.
Car Accidents in Utah
According to the Utah Department of Public Safety, hundreds of serious car crashes take place across Utah highways every year. These incidents can lead to significant injuries, long-term recovery, and major traffic disruptions. In 2023 alone, Utah saw a rise in highway collisions, especially in high-traffic areas like Salt Lake, Utah, and Davis counties. These accidents often result in hospitalizations, lost income, and costly vehicle damage.
When someone is hurt in a car crash, there are many ways their life can be impacted. Here are some key concerns to keep in mind after an accident:
- Medical Costs: Immediate and long-term medical care following an accident can become a financial burden, especially if injuries require surgeries, therapy, or ongoing treatment.
- Lost Wages: Many crash victims have to take time off work, sometimes indefinitely, which creates stress over how to cover living expenses or provide for their families.
- Vehicle Replacement: In many cases, the involved vehicles are severely damaged or totaled, leading to further financial complications, particularly if insurance doesn’t cover full replacement costs.
- Emotional Toll: The psychological impact of an accident—such as anxiety, depression, or PTSD—can often linger long after physical injuries heal.
- Transportation Disruption: Losing a reliable vehicle can impact a person’s ability to work, care for family members, or attend necessary appointments during recovery.
- Legal Pressure: Insurance companies may try to resolve claims quickly and in their favor, which puts injured individuals at a disadvantage if they don’t have proper legal support.
