Because of the vulnerability of a pedestrian, it is important for drivers to stay vigilant. It is the most dangerous for pedestrians at night, when visibility is low. If you are someone who uses the sidewalks a lot, you should make sure that you stay safe. Walking in groups, wearing bright colors, and avoiding high trafficked areas will help you stay safe.

Drivers and pedestrians should watch out for a few things or look out for while on the road. There are a few factors that contribute to pedestrians crashes and injuries, including:

Distracted Driving

Many motorists end up hitting pedestrians because they are distracted, either from their phones or something else is the car. Distracted driving is one of the biggest dangers driving anyway, but because of the vulnerability of the pedestrian.

Jaywalking

Jaywalking can be especially dangerous for pedestrians. Drivers are not looking out for pedestrians in the middle of the roadways. Because of the speeds that cars are often going, it can cause major injuries for pedestrians.

Low Visibility at Night

Visibility decreases as the light starts to dim, and once it is fully gone, it becomes even more dangerous. Pedestrians should prioritize wearing bright clothing, even reflective clothing. Also, trying to make sure that you are walking in well lit areas or on sidewalks and crosswalks will help you stay more viable.
