Murray, UT (March 20, 2025) — A series of crashes impacted roads across northern Utah on Wednesday morning, including an accident that temporarily shut down eastbound lanes of Interstate 215 at the Interstate 15 interchange in Murray.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, over 50 accidents were reported on various highways before 7 a.m. The Utah Department of Transportation confirmed that all travel lanes and the left shoulder were blocked at mile marker 12 in Murray. The closure lasted about an hour before officials were able to clear the scene and reopen the roadway to traffic.

At least one ambulance was observed at the crash site, alongside multiple Utah Highway Patrol vehicles. The number of injured individuals has not been confirmed, but paramedics provided on-site treatment before transporting at least one person to an area hospital for additional care. Law enforcement is continuing to investigate the exact cause of the crash.

Our thoughts are with those who were hurt in this accident, and we hope for their swift recovery.

Car Accidents in Utah

Car crashes are an unfortunate reality across Utah, particularly during the winter and early spring months when road conditions can be hazardous. The Utah Department of Public Safety reports that in a given year, thousands of crashes occur due to speeding, distracted driving, and poor road conditions. These incidents often result in injuries ranging from minor cuts and bruises to life-threatening trauma.

Understanding the factors contributing to car accidents can help drivers take extra precautions. Some common causes of crashes include:

  • Weather Conditions: Snow, ice, and rain create slippery roads, increasing the risk of collisions. Drivers should adjust their speed and increase following distances when road conditions are poor.
  • Distracted Driving: Activities such as texting, eating, or adjusting vehicle controls divert attention from the road and significantly raise the risk of an accident.
  • Speeding: Exceeding the posted speed limit reduces reaction time and makes it harder to stop safely in emergency situations.
  • Failure to Yield: Many crashes occur when drivers fail to yield the right of way, particularly at intersections or during lane changes.
  • Fatigue: Drowsy driving is just as dangerous as driving under the influence. Fatigue impairs reaction times and decision-making abilities, increasing the likelihood of a crash.

After an accident, victims may face overwhelming medical expenses, vehicle repair costs, and lost income due to missed work. If you were hurt in a crash, seeking legal guidance can help you navigate the recovery process and ensure you receive the financial support you need.
