Ogden, UT (April 1, 2025) – A late-night crash on March 29 in Ogden has left one woman dead and another seriously injured after a vehicle veered into oncoming traffic. The collision occurred just after midnight, around 12:07 a.m., in the 300 block of Harrison Boulevard.
According to a statement released Monday by Ogden City Police, a silver Ford Focus was heading northbound along Harrison Boulevard when the driver went over the center lines and entered to southbound lanes before it collided head-on with a Ford F-350. Emergency responders arrived quickly and found the scene severely damaged. The 21-year-old woman driving the Focus had to be extricated from the wreckage. She was taken to a nearby hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Her passenger, 21-year-old Tylar Palmer, also sustained critical injuries. Despite being provided medical treatment while on-site and transported to the hospital, she later died from her injuries. The driver of the Ford F-350 did not require hospitalization, according to initial reports.
The Weber/Morgan CRASH Team is actively investigating the cause of the collision. Authorities confirmed that impairment is being considered as a possible factor.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Tylar Palmer and also hope for a full recovery for those injured.
Car Accidents in Utah
Utah sees thousands of serious car crashes each year, many of which involve impaired driving. According to the Utah Department of Public Safety, alcohol-related crashes account for a significant portion of the state’s traffic fatalities. Head-on collisions like the one that occurred in Ogden are often severe, and many involve one vehicle crossing the center line due to distraction or intoxication.
When tragedy strikes, families are often left navigating not only grief, but also legal and financial burdens. Here are a few ways wrongful death accidents can affect surviving loved ones:
- Emotional Loss: The sudden death of a loved one creates unimaginable emotional pain. Families are often left grappling with shock, grief, and the long-term effects of that absence in their daily lives.
- Financial Strain: Many families are left to cover funeral costs, medical bills, and lost household income. These unexpected expenses add stress during an already difficult time.
- Legal Complexity: Wrongful death cases often require extensive investigation and legal filings. Having legal guidance ensures the case is handled thoroughly, especially if negligence or criminal charges are involved.
- Loss of Companionship: When someone loses a partner, child, or sibling, the impact is more than financial. Emotional support, daily routines, and shared experiences are disrupted in ways that legal systems attempt—but can’t fully—address.
- Future Planning Disruptions: The loss of a loved one may alter life plans, from college goals to retirement timelines. These changes can ripple through generations.
- Increased Mental Health Needs: Survivors may experience depression, PTSD, or anxiety that requires counseling or long-term support—especially if they were present at the time of the crash or involved in its aftermath.
