Car Accidents in Utah
Urban roads in Salt Lake City, such as West Temple Street, are frequent sites of early morning crashes. Data from the Utah Department of Public Safety shows that even during low-traffic hours, drivers face risks from fatigue, speed, and limited visibility. Thousands of people are injured in Utah car accidents each year, and city environments often add their own complications.

Here are some common dangers linked to early morning urban collisions:
- Reduced Driver Alertness: Drivers commuting early in the morning may still be groggy or tired, especially those heading to early shifts. Fatigue can significantly reduce response times and decision-making ability.
- Sun Glare and Lighting Conditions: Crashes during the sunrise hour often involve low visibility or sun glare. These conditions can obscure traffic signals or the presence of other vehicles or pedestrians.
- Quieter Roads and Speeding: With fewer cars around, some drivers speed through city streets. Higher speeds increase the severity of crashes, especially in tight urban areas.
- Delivery and Commercial Traffic: Early morning often brings delivery vans, ride-share vehicles, and other commercial drivers into high-density areas. These drivers may be distracted or in a hurry.
- Pedestrian Crossings: Even at dawn, crosswalks near residential or transit zones can be active. Pedestrian visibility is reduced in dim light, making these areas especially dangerous for both drivers and walkers.
