Car Accidents in Utah
Thousands of motor vehicle accidents occur in Utah each year, with many resulting in injuries. In 2023, state officials reported over 26,000 injury-related crashes. The leading causes of these accidents include distracted driving, speeding, and failure to yield.

Recognizing common types of injuries from car accidents can help victims seek appropriate care. Below are frequent injuries reported in crashes:
- Whiplash – Sudden jerking motions from an impact can strain neck muscles and ligaments. Symptoms may take hours or days to appear.
- Fractures – Broken bones can occur in severe crashes, especially in high-impact collisions. Recovery may involve surgery and physical therapy.
- Head Injuries – Concussions and traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) can have long-lasting effects, including memory loss and cognitive issues.
- Back and Spinal Cord Injuries – Damage to the spine can cause chronic pain or, in severe cases, paralysis. Even minor back injuries may require extensive rehabilitation.
- Internal Injuries – The force of a collision can cause internal bleeding or organ damage, which may not be immediately noticeable. Seeking medical attention after a crash is essential.
