Salt Lake City, UT (May 14, 2025) – A multi-vehicle accident at a major downtown intersection left three people seriously injured Sunday evening. According to the Salt Lake City Police, the collision took place around 6:55 p.m. at the junction of 300 West and 500 South.
Reports indicate that a for-hire vehicle traveling southbound on 300 West, carrying four occupants, was struck by another vehicle heading west on 500 South. That second vehicle had five people inside. The impact caused significant injuries to three individuals inside the for-hire vehicle. They were transported to a nearby hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The five occupants in the second vehicle suffered minor injuries and reportedly sought medical treatment on their own. The intersection was shut down for several hours as investigators worked the scene. Drivers were advised to use alternate routes. Officials stated that no additional updates would be available that evening.
We hope everyone involved in this crash recovers quickly.
Car Accidents in Utah
Utah continues to report high numbers of vehicle collisions each year, particularly in densely populated cities like Salt Lake City. Intersection crashes remain one of the most common causes of injury. Many of these incidents are attributed to driver error, distractions, or failure to yield. When multiple vehicles and passengers are involved, the consequences can be wide-ranging. Here are a few critical issues accident victims often face:
- Coordinating Medical Care for Multiple People: When several individuals are hurt in a single crash, it can overwhelm local emergency resources. Victims may face delays in treatment or must be transported to different hospitals for care.
- Complex Liability and Insurance Claims: In multi-car collisions, determining fault can be difficult. Multiple insurance policies and varying levels of coverage make navigating compensation a frustrating and time-consuming process.
- Increased Emotional Trauma: Accidents involving many people—especially when serious injuries occur—often lead to greater emotional stress for those involved. Survivors may suffer from anxiety, sleep problems, or guilt related to the incident.
- Delayed Road Access and Community Impact: Major intersection closures disrupt commutes, emergency access, and local business traffic. These extended delays affect not just victims, but the surrounding community as well.
If you’ve been hurt in a collision, it’s crucial to contact a car accident attorney in the Salt Lake City area to understand your rights. An attorney can help you deal with insurance companies, build your claim, and ensure fair treatment under the law.
