The incident was reported at approximately 5:50 p.m. and drew a significant emergency response due to the presence of flames and thick smoke.
According to early reports from witnesses and emergency communications, the vehicle was involved in a two vehicle car crash or lost control before catching fire on the side of the highway. Bystanders reported seeing plumes of black smoke rising from the vehicle and flames engulfing its front section. Drivers in both directions of US 6 experienced delays as authorities shut down part of the road to allow emergency crews access to the scene.
First responders from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office and Spanish Fork Fire Department arrived promptly. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze while paramedics assessed individuals involved. At least one person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and minor injuries. The extent of all injuries remains under investigation, and no fatalities have been reported as of this writing.
