St. George, UT (August 28, 2025) – Two women were injured in a collision on Interstate 15 on Wednesday morning near St. George Boulevard. The crash occurred around 9:21 a.m. when traffic was backed up in the right lane near mile marker 9, as vehicles slowed down near Exit 8.
According to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Cameron Roden, an Audi was stopped in the lane, and a Mercedes driven by a woman approached from behind. While attempting to slow down, the woman lost control and rear-ended the Audi. The impact caused her vehicle to rotate, striking the driver’s side of the Audi.
There was one occupant in each vehicle. The driver of the Audi suffered minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital. The woman in the Mercedes sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The road was closed for about an hour as medical personnel and emergency responders, including the St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance, attended to the scene. Authorities later reopened the road once the area was cleared.
Lt. Roden reminded drivers to stay alert, especially during traffic slowdowns, and to always look farther down the road to avoid hazards. “We need to make sure we’re looking well down the road and not being distracted,” he said.
We hope that those involved in this crash make a full and swift recovery.
Car Accidents in St. George
Traffic slowdowns and congestion, like those that led to the crash on I-15 near St. George Boulevard, are often the cause of rear-end accidents. As vehicles slow down, drivers may not always have enough time to react to sudden changes in speed or road conditions, leading to collisions. In this particular incident, the driver of the Mercedes was unable to stop in time, causing significant damage and injuries.
Rear-end crashes are one of the most common types of accidents on highways and freeways. The risk increases when drivers are distracted or fail to maintain a safe following distance. While some rear-end collisions result in minor property damage, others can lead to serious injuries, particularly when there is a significant difference in speed between the vehicles involved.
Victims of rear-end accidents may experience injuries such as whiplash, back pain, or more severe head injuries. In some cases, the emotional distress of being involved in an accident can also affect the victim’s recovery. That’s why it’s important to seek medical care immediately, even if injuries appear minor at first.
