Summer is the best time to get outside. The air is warm and nice, there’s no school, and not to mention the fun holidays. And nowhere is better to be in the summer time than Utah. Between farmer’s markets, Fourth of July celebrations, and other community events, there is so much to do. We have compiled a list of all the activities that you, your family and friends can attend.
Ogden Music Festival
The Ogden Music Festival, located at Fort Buenaventura from May 30-June1. For those who are fans of acoustic music, this festival will have a lot of artists that you will enjoy. There will also be an Instrument Petting Zoo, as well as more music and outdoor crafts and events for kids. You can also camp out at the festival for three days to make sure you don’t miss anything.
Latino Arts Festival
From June 13-15, you can attend the Latino Arts Festival at Canyons Village at Park City Mountain. This festival is to celebrate latino and hispanic cultures, including Peru, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Argentia, and others. This festival will include art, music, dancing, and food for you to view and purchase.
Utah Shakespeare Festival
In Cedar City, at Southern Utah University, there is the Utah Shakespeare Festival. There are four theaters that put on shows, two modern theaters, the Ashton Family Greenshaw Commons, and The Englestead Shakespeare Theatre, inspired by the Globe Theatre in London. There are also other performances and seminars to attend. With shows going from June 16 to October 4th, you will never have to miss one of the performances. This year the shows include: Macbeth, The Importance of Being Ernest, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Antony and Cleopatra, Dear Jack Dear Louise, As You Like It, and Steel Magnolias.
Days of ‘47
To celebrate the arrival of pioneers in Utah Valley in 1847, Utah hosts The Days of ‘47. This includes a parade and rodeo. The parade is on July 24th in Salt Lake City, and the parade goes from July 22-26. There will also be a Royalty competition and concerts leading up to the parade.
Folkfest
From July 30-August 2nd, at the Springville Arts Park, they hold the World Folkfest. This festival showcases dances from cultures all over the world. The activity also includes live music, food trucks, and kid activities, all celebrating diverse cultures. Currently, they showcase 81 different cultures, but more are always joining the event.
Dinah “Soar” Days Hot Air Balloon Festival
In Vernal Utah, from August 22-24, you can attend the Dinah “Soar” Days, which includes a market, food trucks, live music, car show, chalk art, and the balloon launch. They are also doing a Dino Dash, and the best dinosaur costume will get two tickets for a hot air balloon ride. They also have a chalk art contest, belly flop competition, and photography contest. The ballon launch will happen at Vernal Middle School.
Bear Lake Raspberry Days
In Garden City, UT, around Bear Lake, there is the famous Raspberry Days Festival. This year, from August 7-9, you can attend all the activities in this festival. There is usually a fair with concerts, vendors, and food, as well as a Pie Eating Contest, bingo, a parade, and a talent show.
Freedom Festival Stadium of Fire
On July 4, at BYU’s Lavell Edwards Stadium, you can go to the Stadium of Fire, which is a firework show and concert. This year, Rascal Flats are headlining the show, and will include the largest stadium firework and drone show, as well as a flyover by F-35 jet from the Hill Air Force base. Before the show, there will be tailgating in the west parking lot and street dancing after the show.
