Tremonton, UT - One Dead, One Critically Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on I-15

Tremonton, UT (April 30, 2025) – A tragic wrong-way crash occurred late Tuesday morning on Interstate 15 near Tremonton, leaving one woman dead and another hospitalized with critical injuries. The collision happened just before noon on April 29 and involved a gray Ford Focus and a Toyota 4Runner.

According to Utah Highway Patrol, the 77-year-old woman behind the wheel of the Ford Focus was traveling south in the northbound lanes when she collided head-on with the 4Runner. The impact caused the SUV to roll over. The woman driving the Ford Focus was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota 4Runner, also a woman, was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Authorities confirmed that while her injuries are serious, they are not believed to be life-threatening.

A witness at the scene reported seeing the Ford Focus driver make a U-turn from the northbound on-ramp just moments before the crash occurred. All northbound lanes of I-15 were closed near the North 5200 West off-ramp for several hours. Traffic was diverted until the roadway reopened around 2 p.m. UHP continues to investigate what led to the wrong-way maneuver and fatal collision.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the woman who lost her life and hope for a full and speedy recovery for the injured driver.

Car Accidents in Utah

Tremonton, UT - One Dead, One Critically Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on I-15Fatal and injury-causing crashes continue to be a pressing concern in Utah. In 2023, over 25,000 injury crashes and more than 280 fatalities were reported statewide. Interstate collisions are particularly dangerous, with higher speeds often resulting in more severe injuries and outcomes.

In cases like this, understanding the legal and personal aftermath is important. Here are key points families may face:

  • Loss of a Loved One: Families who lose someone in a crash often deal with both emotional grief and financial strain. Funeral costs, lost income, and long-term emotional distress can create lasting challenges.
  • Severe Physical Injuries: Survivors of high-impact crashes may require surgeries, rehabilitation, and long-term care. These treatments can be costly and disrupt daily life for months or years.
  • Liability Investigations: Determining fault in a fatal crash requires careful review of witness statements, road surveillance, vehicle data, and accident reconstruction reports. Families need experienced support to ensure accountability.
  • Insurance Challenges: Insurers may offer low settlements or dispute claims entirely. Legal assistance helps ensure families receive the financial compensation they’re entitled to—not just what’s offered.
  • Mental Health Impacts: Trauma from a serious accident affects everyone involved—from survivors to witnesses and family members. Counseling and mental health services often play a vital role in healing.
