Car Accidents in Utah
Utah’s highways are the site of frequent crashes, especially on high-speed routes like Highway 89. With more than 25,000 injury crashes reported statewide each year, many accidents happen in areas where speed limits are higher and traffic patterns change quickly. Uintah’s access to major roads puts drivers at greater risk, particularly during daytime hours when traffic volume increases.

Understanding the types of claims you may need to file after a crash is important. Here’s a quick guide to help:
- Property Damage Claims: These cover the cost to repair or replace your vehicle. You’ll usually deal with either your own insurer or the at-fault driver’s company. Always document the damage with photos and repair estimates.
- Bodily Injury Claims: This type of claim covers your medical expenses and pain and suffering. It may include hospital bills, physical therapy, and mental health treatment depending on the nature of your injuries.
- Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage: If the at-fault driver doesn’t have enough insurance—or any at all—this coverage from your own policy can help fill the gap. Many Utah drivers rely on this after hit-and-runs or minimal coverage crashes.
- Loss of Income Claims: If your injuries prevent you from working, you may be entitled to compensation for lost wages. Keep records of missed work days, reduced hours, and notes from your physician limiting activity.
- Wrongful Death Claims: If a loved one dies in a crash, surviving family members may file a wrongful death claim for funeral expenses, loss of support, and emotional distress. These are complex claims that require legal guidance.
