Car Accidents in Utah
Traffic collisions continue to be a leading cause of injury across Utah, especially in fast-growing areas like Spanish Fork. Over 25,000 injury-related crashes occur statewide each year. Even seemingly minor incidents can lead to painful injuries, missed work, and long-term complications.
Intersection-related crashes are particularly common. Here’s why they pose such a high risk:
- Failure to Yield: Misjudging who has the right-of-way is a frequent cause of intersection accidents, especially at uncontrolled or four-way stops.
- Running Red Lights: Drivers rushing to beat a red light may collide with cross-traffic, often resulting in T-bone crashes that cause serious injury.
- Inadequate Signage or Signals: Poorly marked intersections or non-functioning lights can confuse drivers, increasing the chance of collisions.
- Blocked Lines of Sight: Parked vehicles, vegetation, or other obstacles can prevent drivers from seeing oncoming traffic, pedestrians, or cyclists.
- Left Turns Across Traffic: Drivers turning left often underestimate the speed or distance of oncoming vehicles, resulting in broadside impacts.
